Despite experiencing a strong week in terms of positive momentum, UK listed equities moved lower on Friday. The FTSE 100 (FTSE) fell 26.88 points (0.32%) to 8,358.25, though it remains 104.6 points higher than Monday’s open. This trend was loosely followed across Europe, as the STOXX 600 (STOXX) rose 1.08 points (0.21%) to 524.99, taking the weeks gains to 2.64 points.
USA
US equities moved higher on Friday as positive momentum returned to markets. The Nasdaq 100 ($NDX) led session gains, rising 133.62 points (0.66%) to 20,324.04, though the index remains about 42 points down on the Monday’s open. The S&P 500 ($SPX) rose 23.2 points (0.40%) to 5,864.67, and the Dow ($INDU) rose 36.86 points (0.085%) to 43,275.91.
Rest of the World
Japanese equity performances picked up on Friday, marking a stronger end to an otherwise poor week. The nation’s benchmark index, the Nikkei 225 (¥N225) rose 70.56 points (0.18%) to 38,981.75. The situation was somewhat similar in China, as the nation’s recent equity rally appears to be slowing. The shanghai Composite index (¥SSE) rose 92.18 points (2.91%) on Friday to 3,261.56 erasing the weeks losses.
