-Tsai Ing-Wen the president of Taiwan has met the U.S house speaker in Los Angeles this morning for talks and a media appearance, as part of a visit to the USA.


UK
-Peter Murrell, husband of Nicola Sturgeon, and former leader of the SNP has been arrested for questioning as part of a police inquiry into SNP party funding. Murrell was later released without charge after several hours in custody.
-The FTSE 100 Index has edged higher during todays trading session rising by 0.37%, as equity market momentum slows.


Rest of the World
-Despite continued criticism over the pensions reform act, French president Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Beijing for a three day visit to China. Meetings will be held with Xi Jinping to discuss both trade and world affairs.
-Gold prices have continued to push toward record highs rising 0.08% during trading on Wednesday, as dollar confidence is rocked and economic growth signals across the West remain weak.
